GUNDAM WORK IN PROGRESS PT1 UNBOXING: PROTOTYPE GOUF [MOBILITY DEMONSTRATOR BLUE COLOR Ver.]

IMG_478632969

Continuing my absolute love of the Gundam: The Origin model kits, I’m taking on the YMS-07A-0 Prototype Gouf [Mobility Demonstrator Blue Color Ver.] as my next project.

This is an alternate version of the YMS-07B Prototype Gouf that was widely released. The version I’m working on is a limited version made available through P-Bandai. The main differences being the hands and wrists are the more traditional ones found in the Zaku kits, rather than the interchangeable ones found in the regular release.

Other differences include a pretty nifty machine gun and some stickers, notably those  showing the number “2” and other outline decals to make the kit stand apart from the original release.

But it’s not a substantial difference, case in point the kit comes with the original manual for the YMS-07B, but there is secondary manual which details the different construction of the arms and hands, and the machine gun.

The manual also details the varied sticker applications to the kit.

I like the differences in this model and I’m still  excited to work on this kit.

HGUC SCHUZRUM GALLUSS – PART 1: UNBOXING

Overall, I liked the Gundam Unicorn anime, although I did think the story wasn’t the best I’ve seen from the franchise, it featured some well-designed mobile suits like the Gundam Unicorn itself and the Kshatriya.

Which leads me to my latest acquisition with the HGUC AMX-101E Schuzrum Galluss model produced by Bandai. The Schuzrum Galluss is a Neo Zeon assault suit that was featured in a brief sequence in the last episode of Gundam Unicorn.

Although its appearance was all too brief, the action scenes that featured the mobile suit was probably some of the best moments of the final episode.

I like the design of the mobile suit with its Qubeley-like head and slim look. Another attribute that I liked was its weapons which includes its spike shields and magnet armor chain mine.

With this model I’ve decided to add additional weapons for the Schuzrum Galluss which are two Panzerfausts from the Weapon Unit Kotobukiya line.

I don’t think it will take me that long to paint the model, since it has fewer plates compared to what I’m used to. Updates soon.

MG PMX-003 The-O Part 1: Unboxing & Prep

I think at this point it’s a safe bet to say that my favorite Gundam series is Zeta Gundam. I love the unusual, but awesome designs of the mobile suits and it shows since my latest purchase and project are both from Zeta.

As I get ready to do a photo shoot this week of the High Grade Messala, I went ahead and started on my next project which is the Master Grade The-O. Both are Titans mobile suits piloted by Paptimus Scirocco in the series Zeta Gundam, and both are substantially bigger compared to other kits in their size grade.

Given the numerous pieces and sizes of the pieces (some are enormous, especially the leg and arm armor plates), I’m going to take a little more time than usual to paint and build it.

What I’m planning to do is first prime and paint all the armor pieces first. Following that I’ll do the same with inner frame and weapons. Usually, I would prime and paint the whole bunch together. But the number of pieces would just take way too long to do it in one session since I’ve allotted myself a set time per day to work on the kit.

What I’ve done today is separated the yellow armor plates into two groups. I’ll prime the first group on Friday, then on Saturday prime the second group and paint the first group. I’m going to need a lot more paint than usual to cover this guy adequately.

HGUC Messala Part 1: Unboxing

Finally got the HGUC Messala on Wednesday. Love the artwork on the box.

Finally got the HGUC Messala on Wednesday. Love the artwork on the box.

I’m currently in the middle of watching Zeta Gundam after I stopped watching it several years ago. About a week ago I watched the first appearance of Paptimus Scirocco on the show as he showed up in the PMX-000 Messala and knew I had to get my hands on the recently released High Grade model of the mobile suit.

The first thing I noticed when I opened the model box was how big the armor plating was which should come to no surprise to anyone who’s watched Zeta Gundam. The Messala is clearly larger than the standard Mobile Suit.

I’ll be priming the parts and hopefully will have all the parts painted by Sunday and will also be working on the long-delayed photo shoot of the HGUC Zee Zulu with customized weapons.

As I’m watching Zeta Gundam I’m digging the unusual, but cool designs of the mobile suits, especially the Titans mobile suits. I’ve already spotted my next HGUC purchase from the show.

I cannot wait to put the Messala together! The design looks very sleek and bad ass. Some initial concerns I had as I was unboxing the kit, was how sturdy the model would be given the fact that it also transforms. We’ll see when I get to that point.
